Amy Klobuchar, born May 25, 1960, in Plymouth, Minnesota, is a U.S. Senator from Minnesota. She graduated magna cum laude from Yale University in 1982 and earned her J.D. from the University of Chicago in 1985. Before her Senate career, she was the Hennepin County attorney from 1999 to 2006. Klobuchar was first elected to the Senate in 2006, and was re-elected in 2012 and 2018. She has served as chair of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration. Klobuchar ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 but was not successful.
