“Claire McCaskill served as a U.S. Senator from Missouri from January 3, 2007, to January 3, 2019. She was Missouri's first elected female senator. Prior to her tenure in the Senate, McCaskill served in the Missouri House of Representatives (1982–1988) and as Missouri State Auditor (1999–2007). She was also the prosecutor for Jackson County, Missouri from 1993 to 1999. McCaskill earned a B.A. in Political Science and a J.D. from the University of Missouri. She lost her bid for re-election in the 2018 Senate race. McCaskill was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 and made a full recovery.”
