“Heidi Heitkamp (b. October 30, 1955) is a former U.S. Senator from North Dakota. A member of the Democratic Party, Heitkamp served one term in the Senate from 2013 to 2019. Before her Senate career, Heitkamp held statewide offices, including North Dakota Attorney General (1993–2000) and North Dakota Tax Commissioner (1986–1993). Known for her moderate stance, she often worked across party lines on issues such as energy, agriculture, and Native American rights. Sheitkamp holds a J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School and a bachelor's degree from the University of North Dakota.”
